The Cuban Missile Crisis
The link below is to a movie about the Cuban Missile Crisis called Thirteen Day. It tells the story from the perspective of Ken O'Donnell, who was the Special Assistant to President Kennedy. It stars Kevin Costner and has many other actors you will recognize. This movie does a really good job of showing how close we were to going to war over this issue and the tension that existed.

Cold War Timeline
The Cold War was 'fought' in the aftermath of World War Two, from the collapse of the wartime alliance between the Anglo-American led Allies and the USSR to the collapse of the USSR itself, with the most common dates for these identified as 1945 to 1991. Of course, like most historical events, the seeds from which the war grew were planted much earlier, and this timeline starts with the creation of the world’s first Soviet nation in 1917

Chapter 37
•Cold War refers to a period of political, economic and ideological conflict between East-particularly the USSR and the People's Republic of China-and West-mainly the Unites States and Western Europe. During four decades between the late 1940's and the late 1980's, the superpowers vied for influence over the so-called Third World. Although armed conflict did erupt in Korea, the Middle East, Vietnam, and Afghanistan the conflict was limited and the superpowers avoided facing each other directly on the battlefield
